About The Position

IBM Technology Zone is the one stop shop for IBMers and business partners to build, show, and share solutions built on IBM technologies to facilitate opportunity progression and customer adoption. We are seeking an experienced Hybrid Cloud Operations Manager to lead a small team overseeing and optimizing our cloud infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud environments (IBM Cloud, AWS, and Azure) while driving operational excellence. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day cloud operations, developing strategies for infrastructure optimization, and leading the implementation of automation and monitoring tools to enhance system performance. You will mentor and guide your team, foster collaboration with cross-functional groups like platform engineering, virtualization teams and security. Additionally, you will oversee incident response, capacity planning, and vendor management to support business-critical applications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud operations, cloud engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams.
  • Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience in IBM Cloud scaling and provisioning.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Turbonomic.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • Experience in a large-scale operations or support environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize daily cloud operations across IBM Cloud, AWS, or Azure, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of infrastructure.
  • Drive the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible automation platform, and implement automation to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop a team of technical contributors, setting clear goals, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Lead incident response processes, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee capacity planning to ensure systems meet current and future demands.
  • Ensure cloud environments adhere to industry compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR) and implement cost-management strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of system architecture, operational procedures, and incident reports.
