About The Position

The Hy-Chi Department Clerk at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing excellent customer service while managing food orders and ensuring product quality. This role involves filling customer orders, handling food safely, and maintaining a clean work environment. The clerk will also assist customers in locating products and ensuring a positive shopping experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction and count and record figures.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and enhancing their shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to customers who call.
• Takes customer orders at the Hy-Chi Department counter.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Reviews orders for the day and practices proper sanitation procedures.
• Ensures the work area is clean and neat, and reviews food for freshness.
• Anticipates product needs and prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as necessary.
• Checks in products, puts them away, and reviews invoices.
• Runs the department register and handles payments.
• Removes trash in a timely manner.
• Maintains adherence to personal hygiene and dress guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
