About The Position

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a HW Commodity Specialist II for multiple positions available in Seattle, WA. The role involves creating forecasts and sourcing plans to support customer demand, collaborating with various stakeholders including supply chain, operations, engineering, and suppliers to ensure on-time material availability. The specialist will analyze business and technology trends to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and risk minimization for AWS and its customers. Responsibilities also include managing material inventories for AWS data centers, evaluating supplier performance, leading cross-functional meetings, and serving as an escalation point for supplier/material risks. The position may require domestic and international travel up to 10%.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related discipline and 2 years of experience in job offered or a related occupation.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related discipline followed by 5 progressively responsible years of experience in job offered or a related occupation.
  • 2 years of experience within Logistics, Transportation, or Distribution Center processes and systems.
  • 2 years of experience in a cross-functional organization utilizing sophisticated quantitative analysis and process improvement methodologies including lean process manufacturing and related performance metrics for continuous improvement, optimization and to increase efficiency within processes.
  • 2 years of data center and/or cabling infrastructure experience.
  • 2 years of experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau.

Responsibilities

  • Create forecasts and sourcing plans in support of customer demand.
  • Work with a range of stakeholders including supply chain, operations, engineering, and suppliers to drive supply profiles and to support on-time material availability.
  • Analyze business and technology trends to identify process improvement opportunities, reduce costs, and minimize risks for AWS and its customers.
  • Manage material inventories for AWS data centers.
  • Evaluate and monitor performance of suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture, and follow-up activity coordination.
  • Serve as an escalation point for teams to remediate supplier/material risks.
  • Domestic and international travel up to 10% to perform role responsibilities may be required.
