About The Position

As part of the Americold team and broader Tech24 network, the Senior HVACR Technician serves as a lead technical expert in the field. This role is responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and mentoring junior technicians while ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. The ideal candidate brings extensive commercial HVAC/R experience, strong troubleshooting ability, and the confidence to work independently while representing Tech24 with professionalism and integrity. Senior Technicians play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime and supporting the overall success of our customers’ operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC and refrigeration service experience
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Strong expertise in refrigeration systems, electrical diagnostics, airflow systems, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
  • Own industry standard hand tools
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturer certifications and CFESA credentials are a plus
  • Experience with rack systems and commercial kitchen equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems including walk-in coolers/freezers, rack systems, ice machines, rooftop units, split systems, and ventilation systems
  • Perform advanced electrical and mechanical diagnostics
  • Lead installations, system replacements, and equipment commissioning
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions
  • Mentor and support Junior Technicians and apprentices in the field
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is completed thoroughly and to company standards
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding system conditions, repair options, and preventative maintenance strategies
  • Accurately document service calls, parts usage, labor hours, and detailed repair notes
  • Manage truck inventory and maintain proper tools and materials
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as needed
  • Engage in ongoing technical training to remain current with manufacturer updates and industry advancements
