About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking an HVACR Specialist III. This role involves providing consistent supervision with continuous field verification, planning and organizing work, determining the scope of work, and developing schedules for staff. Responsibilities also include preparing performance evaluation reports and taking appropriate disciplinary actions. The specialist will plan, organize, and direct overall HVAC&R services for assigned facilities, encompassing the operation and maintenance of complex heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Key duties include monitoring energy consumption, promoting energy conservation, establishing work priorities for HVAC&R staff, implementing departmental procedures, maintaining schedules, work activities, and personnel actions, and performing field-oriented plan checks. The position requires preparing equipment specifications and describing system characteristics to engineering or management staff for major system modification projects, and participating in the design and development of new construction and remodeling projects. On-call duty is required to support the operation of CSN.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program followed by two years of journey level experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment; OR
  • One year of experience as a HVACR Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare performance evaluation reports: take appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Plan, organize and direct the overall HVAC&R services for assigned facilities including operation and maintaining complex heating, air conditioning, and/or refrigeration systems.

  • Layout responsibilities for HVAC&R staff, establish work priorities and implement departmental procedures.
  • Maintain schedules, work activities and personnel actions and perform field oriented plan checks.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and describe system characteristics to engineering or management staff for development of major system modification projects.
  • Participate in design and development of new construction and remodeling projects.
  • On call is required in this position to support operation of CSN.
