About The Position

Truckee Meadows Community College is recruiting for a HVACR Specialist 2 with the Facilities department. The HVACR Specialist 2 will perform all work related to troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and installing mechanical equipment for main campus and four satellite campuses. This position will maintain records and perform preventative maintenance for equipment, install, maintain and repair ventilation passages and ductwork, including any necessary sheet metal fabrication and structural modifications, supervise employees, work with outside contractors, perform operations systems programming and adjustments, maintain hardware and software problems associated with the energy management system, estimate material and labor needed to complete jobs, secure technical advice in order to diagnose system failures, design system modifications and installations, address and respond to all indoor air quality concerns, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program followed by one (1) year of journey level experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
  • One (1) year of experience as a HVACR Specialist I in Nevada State service.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • A valid Class 'C' Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • EPA Refrigerant Certification is required by federal law to handle refrigerant and refrigerant handling equipment.
