This role provides an opportunity to gain Heating, Ventilation, & Air Condition (HVAC) knowledge and learn firsthand from industry-leading professionals, including factory certification through the Service Technical Academy (STA). Apprentices will be equipped with tools and a vehicle to perform their job at the highest standard, providing customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items, acting as a trusted advisor to offer solutions and outcomes at the time of service. Apprentices will be trained to perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites and will participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skill sets for continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement. Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs. They will keep JCI, contractors, and customers advised of job progress and issues as needed, meet attendance requirements for required Union training for the first year, and provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities and supporting quotes.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO
  • 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
  • Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner
  • Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
  • Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently
  • Prioritize safety in all forms
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis
