About The Position

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to join their fast-growing HVAC business in North America. The position requires practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting, and/or the mechanical equipment service industry, specifically with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. The scope of work is limited to commercial HVACR service, and Servicemen may partner with Journeymen on repairs of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers. The company provides factory certification through its Service Technical Academy (STA), offering recognition, monetary rewards, and advancement opportunities, along with incentive programs and a strong focus on employee safety. Employees are provided with tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle. The role focuses on delivering high-level service to customers, resolving facility inefficiencies, and providing solutions during commissioning and aftermarket service, including recommendations for efficiency improvements and upselling opportunities, supported by quotes.

Requirements

  • Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
  • Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years Commercial and/or industrial, mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Experience includes Rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, plumbing.
  • Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators, etc. of pumps, fans, Compressors.
  • Able to use vibration equipment to troubleshoot drivelines.
  • Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
  • Attention to detail through interpersonal, digital, and written skills.
  • Universal EPA refrigerants license.
  • Applicable state or local licensing.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
  • Partner with Journeymen in the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers.
  • Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve facility inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
  • Provide solutions and outcomes at the time of commissioning and aftermarket service.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently, including identifying upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
  • Be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair, and aftermarket services for the HVAC business.
  • Travel 10% to 20% to support Branch Customers activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
  • Enroll in training programs to gain knowledge in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Work with other local market mechanics, Servicemen, and apprentices.
  • Write and communicate to the customer problem, cause, and corrective actions.
  • Provide quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
