Wake County General Services Physical Plant Division is on the hunt for a skilled HVAC Trades Specialist (Boiler)! If you've got deep experience operating, troubleshooting, repairing and mentoring others in the maintenance of commercial boiler systems, we want to hear from you! Primary Duties of this position include: Plans and organizes work on service request related to commercial Boiler repair Provides leadership and expertise on complex HVAC problems and repairs of Wake County's HVAC boiler inventory Complete repair, replacement or upgrade to all Wake County facilities heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, piping systems and related devices Schedules preventive boiler maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability of building infrastructure Assist in performing required testing of HVAC and related systems Assist HVAC technicians with routine as well as emergency work orders Assist HVAC technicians with daily preventive maintenance in all Wake County facilities including high and medium security facilities Maintain and enter information on repairs and requests into Wake County's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Oversee outside contractors that bid and perform boiler related work Provide building automation support to HVAC technicians in the field Work with engineers on new projects and existing building problems

  • Plans and organizes work on service request related to commercial Boiler repair

  • Complete repair, replacement or upgrade to all Wake County facilities heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, piping systems and related devices
  • Schedules preventive boiler maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability of building infrastructure
  • Assist in performing required testing of HVAC and related systems
  • Assist HVAC technicians with routine as well as emergency work orders
  • Assist HVAC technicians with daily preventive maintenance in all Wake County facilities including high and medium security facilities
  • Maintain and enter information on repairs and requests into Wake County's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Oversee outside contractors that bid and perform boiler related work
  • Provide building automation support to HVAC technicians in the field
  • Work with engineers on new projects and existing building problems
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in HVAC
  • A valid driver's license and a "safe" driving record
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

  • Experience in building automation systems
  • NC H3 mechanical license
  • Strong knowledge base and experience with commercial HVAC systems including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, drives, VAV boxes, pumps, and motors
  • Experience in leading team members in HVAC preventive maintenance and repairs on boilers
  • Ability to multitask, performing multiple tasks at once
  • Extensive knowledge of personal computers, including window-based programs, spread sheets and data-based software
  • Working knowledge of plant control strategies and ability to diagnose these systems
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and PPE to conform with OSHA requirements
