About The Position

Under general supervision, the HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and related environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of heating and refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.

Requirements

  • License Requirement Universal CFC Certification Required.
  • Type I and Type II Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling .
  • State HVAC License Journeyman.
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.
  • Vocational or Technical HVAC / R certification and 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC / R and building controls OR 4 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC / R and building controls or related field .
  • Strong electrical trouble shooting skills to perform the following; connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and ventilation fans to starter panels and/or VFD's.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in standard office software programs and mobile electronic devices.
  • Must have comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and the application of loss control measures.
  • Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Additionally, you may be asked to speak to your experience with any of the following equipment: CRAC Units, RTU's, Split System AC and HP's, VRF's, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Boilers, Gas and Oil Fired, AHU's, VAV Systems, Chill Water, Condenser Water, Hot Water Systems and Hi/Low Pressure Steam Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Performs field activities associated with supporting the installation, maintenance and servicing of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs PTAC cleaning.
  • Perform on-site preventative maintenance, routine repair and calibration after installation.
  • Handle basic, non-complex products and/or problems, referring more complex problems to higher-level technicians.
  • Uses experience and technical skills with preventive maintenance and system operations to determine service requirements.
  • Advises manager of preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken.
  • Must work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, on-call and weekends, as required.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.
  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Consistently strive for improvement in both team and self.
  • Other duties as assigned.
