Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to ensure the heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation systems operate smoothly and efficiently. This role involves performing installation and service tasks, including inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of HVAC systems. The technician will be responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing main cooling and heating systems. Additionally, the technician will install, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, belts, fans, coils, and compressors. The position also requires working with various heating devices, including furnaces, boilers, stoves, heat exchangers, burners, blowers, fans, and radiant heaters. A key responsibility includes maintaining electrical controls associated directly with refrigeration and cooling equipment, as well as recovering refrigerants and providing the necessary documentation. Other duties may be assigned as required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of applicable experience in residential and commercial HVAC maintenance and installation. Specific HVAC certifications may be required depending on the work site. The technician should be proficient in using various computer software applications, particularly Microsoft Office, and must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret refrigerant system pressures. Understanding the hazards associated with working on HVAC equipment, troubleshooting refrigerant, electrical, and gas systems is crucial. The technician should also possess the ability to braze and solder refrigerant line sets and coils for installation and repair applications. The role requires independent installation, diagnosis, repair, replacement, and balancing of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, cooling systems, and ice makers. Proper refrigerant recovery and reporting are also essential functions of this position.
