About The Position

The selected candidate must have strong communication skills, be self-motivated and capable of working in a collaborative team environment. You will be joining a highly qualified and skilled team of various trades that reports directly to one of 2 Facilities Plant Engineering Supervisors at the Merrimack NH Facility. The Main campus consists of 185 acres, with five main buildings, and multiple specialized R & D facilities, totaling approximately 600,000+ SF. Responsibilities also include supporting activities at the MLF Quarry in Milford NH, MNH21 at 21 Continental Blvd, Merrimack, NH and MNH25 at 25 Manchester st., Merrimack NH. The MER facility, at times houses approximately 1100 employees throughout the listed facilities above. As a member of the HVAC team you will be supporting all of the listed Facilities, working with a broad range of HVAC equipment from Multi-zoned Ductless Air Conditioners to Cascade Refrigeration Systems, to Modular Chiller & Boiler Systems, to Evaporative Cooling Towers, ranging up to 200+ tons. With a robust Building Automation System supporting most HVAC equipment, it will also be imperative that the selected individual has the basic understanding of the functionality of building automation controls and their role within the supporting HVAC systems. Requirements

  • Requires a High School diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid NH or resident state Driver's License
  • An EPA Certification (Class III) for the proper use of refrigerants and minimum of (3) years of commercial/industrial experience in the HVAC trade
  • Valid New Hampshire Gas Fitters Service License

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of at least 60% of a recognized Certificate program in HVAC (complete program will involve 984 hours of classroom training).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, adjusts, repairs, installs, troubleshoot, tests and operates all types of air conditioners, chillers, hot water boilers, refrigeration equipment, environmental chambers and all controls and component parts for each of the above systems.
  • Works from prints, sketches, diagrams, handbooks and manufacturer's instructions to analyze, diagnose, adjust and restore malfunctioning heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems and chambers to ensure efficient operating conditions.
  • Must coordinate work with outside vendors, to support troubleshooting, repairs and installations.
  • May perform analysis on boiler water, chilled water, condenser water, closed loops and glycol systems etc. and adjust chemical feed rates to assure compliance with established parameters. Which includes daily written logs on analysis results. Works with outside water treatment contractor, to conserve energy, maximize efficient operations and extend equipment life.
  • Must be capable and highly skilled with the installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. The qualified candidate shall understand how to adjust HVAC equipment after installation, modification or a complete overhaul.
  • Basic understanding of functionality of the Building Automation System and its relationship to the HVAC equipment.
  • Must be able to operate within a computerized maintenance work order system. Qualified candidate must be able to log work performed, provide a brief explanation of the problem and summarize what was replaced and or repaired.
  • May be required to clean and service equipment that may contain hazardous substances and to participate in the sorting and accumulation of hazardous waste materials in accordance with the Federal, State and Local regulators.
  • Be willing to participate in the on-call coverage for the facility.
