About The Position

The HVAC Technician II troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs, and installs commercial and/or residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning or refrigeration equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring a comfortable climate in the City of Dallas facilities by performing mechanical labor, repair, and maintenance work for HVAC equipment and related systems. The technician will also transfer knowledge to HVAC Apprentices and other trades helpers to ensure safe and efficient repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience working with air conditioning, heating and/or refrigeration repair.
  • Two (2) years working with five (5) ton (or above) systems.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Must possess Environmental Protection Agency Certification (EPA – 608 Universal Certification).
  • High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed Vocational Program in HVAC or Basic Refrigeration.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in addition to the EPA Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mechanical labor, repair, and maintenance work for City of Dallas HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Troubleshoots, evaluates, and checks electrical components and pneumatic controls on HVAC refrigeration equipment.
  • Performs routine preventive and maintenance work on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Installs and repairs small electric motors used in forced air systems.
  • Transfers knowledge to HVAC Apprentices and other trades helpers.
  • Maintains records of work orders, material requests, etc.
  • Performs other trades work as needed or assigned.
