About The Position

This position is responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the surface processing facilities, including the crushing, mill, ore storage, tailings and loadout facilities. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine.

Requirements

• Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
• Red Seal Journeyperson HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic or Plumber. Dual ticketing is advantageous.
• MUST be Licensed Gas Fitter (Class A preferred)
• Experience working in a similar role with exposure to maintenance work
• Experience in Troubleshooting, Service and Maintenance of HVAC systems, MUA’s, and Boilers greater than 400 000 BTU/h
• Experience in Troubleshooting, Service and Maintenance of BAS & BMS
• Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team
• Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed
• Adaptable and responsive to change, as well as learning new information
• Ability to work in a variety of different environments and climates.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain Boilers, MUA systems, and HVAC equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues effectively
• Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
• Provide technical expertise within the team to facilitate planned, unplanned and or breakdown maintenance and preventative shut down maintenance
• Develop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and remedied promptly
• Willingly embed yourself into BHP’s Operating System, culture and ways of working
• Carry out unplanned and planned routine maintenance, inspections, and checks to processing equipment
• Carry out planned maintenance tasks using standardized work technology and digital platforms to ensure efficiency and quality
• Assist in resolution of electrical / mechanical issues affecting equipment performance and availability
• Review and update maintenance schedule plans and equipment history
• Transport cable and equipment safely to job locations, and assist in the set up and installation
• Provide trade skills to perform care maintenance tasks within the surface processing areas, to ensure overall reliability and stability
• Develop and revise maintenance procedures to continuously improve and standardize maintenance processes
• Perform switching and isolation of various types of electrical equipment
• Ensure HVAC and refrigeration systems inventory levels are maintained and recorded in accordance with regulatory requirements
