Job Summary: Are you an HVAC technician who loves both the mechanical and digital sides of the job? Do you find yourself tinkering with code, automation tools, or software systems in your spare time? Unify Energy Solutions is seeking a technically minded Commercial HVAC Technician ready to advance into the world of Building Automation System (BAS) programming and integration. In this unique role, you’ll merge your HVAC expertise with your computer skills — learning to configure, code, and optimize intelligent building systems. This position is ideal for HVAC professionals who are curious about automation, have dabbled in Python, scripting, or logic-based controls, and want to evolve into BAS Programming Engineers. You’ll receive hands-on mentorship from seasoned controls engineers and gain exposure to advanced programming platforms that drive the next generation of smart buildings.

  • Perform start-up, service, and troubleshooting on commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, RTUs, AHUs, and VAV systems.
  • Learn and apply BAS programming concepts, including logic sequences, control strategies, and system optimization.
  • Configure and verify controller hardware, network addressing, and firmware for BACnet and Modbus devices.
  • Assist in writing and testing control sequences using software-based logic tools and Python or similar scripting languages.
  • Support BAS integrations for HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers, and field technicians to ensure systems perform to spec.
  • Deliver clear documentation, updates, and customer communication throughout projects.
  • 3+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience (service, start-up, or commissioning).
  • Strong mechanical understanding of HVAC systems and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret control wiring diagrams, schematics, and sequences of operation.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Comfortable working on job sites and communicating with both field and engineering teams.
  • Basic familiarity with programming or scripting (Python, Visual Logic, C-style syntax, etc.) preferred.
  • A structured pathway from HVAC Technician to BAS Programming Engineer.
  • Comprehensive training on industry-leading BAS platforms (Reliable Controls, Tridium, etc.).
  • Exposure to real-world coding applications in building automation (Python, REST APIs, logic blocks).
  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience.
  • Full benefits package — Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, and company holidays.
  • Ongoing technical development and mentorship within a collaborative, innovation-driven culture.
