Northrop Grumman Space Systems Division (SSD) has an opening for an HVAC Technician 3 (1st Shift) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations Diagnose and resolve complex malfunctions in various HVAC systems, including heating units, air conditioners, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and related components Analyze data, interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to pinpoint the root cause of problems. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques, such as digital multimeters Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunction Repair or replace worn or defective parts, including compressors, condensers, heat pumps, evaporators, fans, pumps, tubing, and electrical controls. Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment. Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks. Sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork. overhauls equipment. Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers and freezers Perform tests and measurements to assess the performance of HVAC systems, including airflow, temperature, pressure, and refrigerant levels. Calibrate thermostats and other controls to ensure accurate temperature regulation. Optimize system performance through adjustments and recommendations. May service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections May be required to install and maintain high-technology clean room environments. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be able to communicate their experience in detail as it relates to the above responsibilities and basic qualifications in this role.
  • High School Diploma/GED with Seven (7+) years of experience related to HVAC and/or Refrigeration
  • Completed HVAC & Refrigeration Certificate
  • Universal EPA Section 608 Technician Certification
  • Expertise in electrical systems, refrigeration, heating systems, chiller systems and air conditioning units
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC load calculations and system performance optimization.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC issues efficiently, often under pressure.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ability to navigate computer systems for work orders, diagnostics, and potentially HVAC software
  • Clearly explain technical issues and solutions to clients and colleagues.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
  • Following safety procedures and regulations when working on HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team framework.
  • Valid non-expired Driver's License
  • Ability to work 1st shift 9/80 (5:00AM to 2:30PM PST)
