Jabil is seeking a HVAC System Engineer/Architect to work in our offices in St. Petersburg, FL. How will you make an impact? As an HVAC System Engineer/Architect with Jabil, you will work with the Business Units and the Sales team to engage various HVAC customers, assess product technologies and manufacturing complexities. You will also provide guidance to the Business Unit and Sales teams in developing the appropriate Jabil solutions and capabilities to support business opportunities, including establishing strategic partnerships as part of the overall solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics or other similar related discipline is required.
  • At least 12 years of experience in HVAC product/system design (commercial/industrial) or other combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems architecture or platform leadership with proven front-end design ownership.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE (55/62.1/90.1/15) and UL/IEC 60335-2-40 certification/compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of different HVAC topologies (heat pumps, chillers, AHUs, VRF, hydronics), refrigerants, thermodynamics and acoustics.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Comfortable coordinating across time zones and cultures
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to be proactive while also being focused on the outcome.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to about 25%.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline is a plus.
  • Supervisor or leadership skills is preferred.
  • ASHRAE Membership/certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with relevant simulation tools (MATLAB-Simulink, EnergyPlus) or CFD/FEA tools (ANSYS Fluent) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive system concepts and partitioning.
  • Translate market and customer needs into system-level requirements with validation traceability.
  • Execute early trade-off analyses (cost, efficiency, volume, schedule).
  • Lead technical discovery, drive performance/cost/schedule feasibility studies and present. trade-offs and recommendations to both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Align architecture concepts and tradeoffs with customer and Jabil executives/stakeholders.
  • Ensure designs address applicable ASHRAE requirements and Handbook guidance.
  • Architect for product safety compliance for heat pumps/AC (example: UL/IEC 60335-2-40).
  • Guide component selections (compressors, heat exchangers, fans, pumps, valves, sensors) and ensure reliability, serviceability, and lifecycle considerations.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
