About The Position

The Residential & Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems across both residential and commercial environments. This role ensures all systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while providing exceptional service to customers. The technician is accountable for performing preventive maintenance, handling emergency service calls, accurately documenting work, and adhering to all safety, code, and company standards. Success in this position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, dependable HVAC solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of residential/commercial HVAC service experience
  • HVAC Certification (Technical school certification preferred)
  • EPA Certification a plus
  • Valid Driver’s License with ability to pass company’s MVR requirements
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. regularly and adhere to all safety guidelines
  • Familiarity with building codes, HVAC equipment manufacturers, and industry standards

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, rooftop units (RTUs), mini-splits, and packaged systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, and system inspections to ensure proper operation and efficiency
  • Install, replace, and adjust HVAC components such as motors, compressors, coils, fans, belts, sensors, thermostats, and controls
  • Work on light commercial refrigeration when applicable (ice machines, walk-in coolers/freezers, reach-ins)
  • Test system performance using gauges, meters, and diagnostic tools to verify proper operation
  • Identify system failures and provide clear repair recommendations to customers
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications
  • Document service work, parts used, labor hours, and system conditions in service software or on work orders
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of company tools, equipment, and service vehicle
  • Handle emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, company, and job-site safety protocols
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, facility managers, and business owners to explain solutions, system upgrades, or preventative measures when appropriate
  • Collaborate with dispatch, service managers, and office staff to ensure efficient scheduling and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all work meets local codes, manufacturer standards, and company quality expectations
