In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and light commercial HVAC systems. This role requires a strong technical foundation in heating, cooling, electrical, and ventilation systems, with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues efficiently and independently. The technician consistently adheres to safety protocols, maintains clean and organized job sites, and ensures all work meets company and industry standards. Using tools such as Housecall Pro and CompanyCam, the technician accurately documents jobs and follows established processes for part ordering and service reporting. Effective communication is critical in this role—technicians are expected to keep customers informed, clearly explain job scopes and pricing, and collaborate closely with team members and vendors. This position also requires informal leadership through accountability, follow-through, and consistent professionalism. The HVAC Service Technician plays a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence through technical expertise and proactive, solution-oriented service.

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or technical school certification strongly preferred
  • Relevant certifications such as EPA 608 Certification (Type I, II, or Universal) required
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in residential or light commercial HVAC service, installation, or maintenance
  • Proven experience performing diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on HVAC systems including gas heat, electric heat, and mini-splits
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, use HVAC-specific tools, and apply HVAC mathematics (e.g., superheat/sub cool calculations, airflow measurement)
  • Familiarity with ductwork installation, metal brazing, refrigeration basics, and mold inspection/remediation
  • Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation and performing work independently with minimal supervision
  • Fundamental understanding of HVAC systems
  • Basic knowledge of electric heating systems
  • Basic knowledge of gas heat systems
  • Basic understanding of mini-split HVAC systems
  • Effective troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Familiarity with HVAC-specific tools and equipment
  • Competence in operating a manometer
  • Proficiency in HVAC-related mathematics, including use of charging charts, superheat and sub cool calculations
  • Ability to perform routing residential HVAC maintenance and service calls
  • Basic plumbing knowledge relevant to HVAC installations
  • Skilled in proper metal brazing techniques
  • Proficient in ductwork layout, routing and installation
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams
  • Comprehensive understanding of Ohm's Law
  • Competent in residential high and low voltage electrical rewiring
  • Knowledge of mold inspection, identification and remediation techniques
  • Familiarity with duct cleaning procedures
  • Ability to properly install residential HVAC systems
  • Ability to properly install mini-split HVAC systems
  • Understanding of indoor air quality and related HVAC components
  • Proficiency in calculating HVAC system airflow
  • Knowledge of applicable construction and fire codes as related to HVAC systems
  • Understanding of communicating HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with commercial HVAC systems
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50-75 pounds
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate lifts or scaffolding as needed
  • Comfortable working in environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and dusty or noisy environments
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling tools, wiring, and equipment installation
  • Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirators
  • Strong stamina and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Motor Vehicle Report complete with requirements met for being insured on company vehicle insurance policy
  • Verification of your qualifications and references
  • Acceptance and compliance with the Company’s employment policies and guidelines
  • Experience using operational/job tracking software such as Housecall Pro and documentation tools like CompanyCam preferred
  • Additional certifications (e.g., NATE, OSHA 10/30, HVAC Excellence) are a plus
