About The Position

Skillforce is currently searching for a journeyman licensed HVAC Service Technician for a contract to hire position in the Baltimore metro area. Requirements

5+ years HVAC service tech experience
Valid Driver's License
Your own reliable transportation
Must be able to pass background and drug screen
Journeyman HVAC license

Responsibilities

Inspect and diagnose system issues using meters, gauges, and diagnostic tools.
Perform routine maintenance to ensure efficiency and longevity (cleaning coils, replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels).
Repair or replace faulty components such as motors, compressors, fans, belts, and electrical parts.
Charge, recover, and handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.
Test system performance (airflow, temperature differential, pressure readings).
Calibrate thermostats and controls to ensure accurate operation.
Seal and repair ductwork to improve airflow and efficiency.
Ensure systems meet local codes and manufacturer specifications.
Communicate findings to customers in clear, understandable terms.
Provide repair estimates and explain available options.
Educate customers on system maintenance, efficiency tips, and upgrades.
Document service work and keep accurate records.
Follow all safety protocols related to electrical, refrigerant, and mechanical systems.
Comply with EPA 608 regulations for refrigerant handling.
Use proper PPE and safe work practices.
Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle in good condition.
Stay updated with new HVAC technologies and codes.
Work on-call or after-hours during peak seasons.
