About The Position

As a Houk HVAC Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, maintain, and educate homeowners on their HVAC systems. You represent Houk in the field—your professionalism, communication, and technical accuracy directly impact customer trust and company success. We are looking for technicians who value doing things the right way, who bring strong troubleshooting skills, and who take pride in creating exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of residential HVAC experience (preferred).
  • EPA 608 Required | TDLR HVAC Registration Required.
  • Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Customer-service oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on residential HVAC systems, including gas furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, and condensers.
  • Complete system start-ups, airflow checks, electrical troubleshooting, and refrigerant-based repairs.
  • Identify system failures, safety concerns, and code violations with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ensure all work meets Houk standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform quality checks to reduce callbacks and increase first-time fix rate.
  • Communicate findings clearly and professionally to homeowners.
  • Present repair options, recommendations, and accessory upgrades through our AirCare+ program.
  • Build trust by educating customers on system health, repair needs, and maintenance best practices.
  • Deliver a consistent, friendly, and respectful service experience on every call.
  • Complete all service notes, checklists, and estimates within FileMaker before leaving the job.
  • Add necessary Tech Alerts, recommended accessories, and declined recommendations per Houk policy.
  • Ensure all warranty information, part numbers, and system data are accurately captured.
  • Adhere to safety standards and company SOPs at all times.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, parts, and supervisors to ensure efficient scheduling and correct parts allocation.
  • Attend required trainings, including AirCare+, technical training, and manufacturer-led workshops.
  • Maintain a clean company vehicle and professional appearance at all times.
  • Promote Houk values—respect, integrity, communication, and craftsmanship.
