About The Position

We are seeking skilled and self-motivated Commercial HVAC Technicians to maintain, repair, install, and service commercial heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems in office buildings, schools, retail locations, manufacturing plants, and other commercial facilities. The ideal candidate works well both independently and collaboratively, communicates effectively with customers and other trades, and upholds our commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. We are hiring for two geographic territories: 1. Northern Vermont serving primarily Chittenden, Franklin, Lamoille, and Washington Counties & 2. Central Vermont serving primarily Addison, Rutland, and Washington Counties. Technicians may occasionally assist neighboring regions as business needs arise. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC/R certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working on commercial or light-commercial HVAC systems in a field service capacity.
  • EPA 608 certification required.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and BAS reports; proficient in diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of HVAC components, electrical systems, controls, ductwork, piping, and pumps.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently across multiple job sites.
  • Professional communication skills and customer-focused attitude. Ability to collaborate with service coordinators, customers, and vendors to meet service expectations.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; ability to travel within assigned region.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance, including proper use of PPE and adherence to vehicle and job-site safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed in gas/oil burner systems (as applicable by state: VT, NH).
  • Experience with BAS, VFDs, and energy management systems.
  • Previous experience in a multi-trade or mechanical contracting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, heat pumps, water-source heat pumps, hydronic pumps, and control systems.
  • Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and system tune-ups to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Assist with or lead installation, start-up, and commissioning of new HVAC equipment in commercial environments.
  • Use blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering specifications, and Building Automation System (BAS) interfaces to support diagnostics and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of service, repairs, and inspections; submit daily job reports, time entries, and parts usage documentation.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and building managers to schedule work and report progress.
  • Follow all safety, code, and regulatory requirements (EPA refrigerant handling, fall protection, lockout/tagout, etc.).
  • Mentor and support less experienced technicians; recommend system improvements and energy-efficiency upgrades when applicable.
  • Be flexible to support after-hours or emergency service calls when required. On-call rotation is typically once every eight weeks or longer. We minimize disruption to our team members' lives by providing on-call service only for customers we've supported within the past year.
  • Maintain company vehicle and tools in good condition, ensuring proper usage and a clean driving record.
