Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience.
  • Five years of field sales experience with at least 3 years selling HVAC or building automation systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity and quality in business.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to influence the market at key levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and/or experience selling Building Automation System retrofit solutions.
  • Bachelor's in business, engineering, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
  • Eight years of progressively responsible field sales experience; 3 years selling HVAC or building automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Sells Johnson Controls Building Automations & Controls offerings to building owners.
  • Focuses on improving existing buildings to help owners achieve business objectives.
  • Manages ongoing opportunities, particularly in selling services and retrofits.
  • Builds relationships with decision-makers to drive sales.
  • Actively listens and identifies customer concerns.
  • Understands customer business and speaks their language.
  • Targets and initiates contact with prospective customers.
  • Keeps manager informed of sales progress and market changes.
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts.
  • Creates competitive, high-quality estimates, proposals, and cost/benefit analyses.
  • Negotiates value, addresses resistance, and closes sales.
  • Utilizes sales tools effectively to document progress and increase business opportunities.
  • Solicits support from internal staff to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Acts as the customer’s advocate in interactions with Johnson Controls.
  • Participates in final project inspections and attends trade shows.
