The McLean Hospital Corporation, part of Mass General Brigham, is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to install, operate, maintain, and repair all hospital mechanical and HVAC equipment and related machinery. This role involves working with HVAC control systems, including pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems that control the hospital's building environments. The position does not require patient care.

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains hospital commercial and domestic refrigeration systems, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, and repairs air duct systems, refrigeration piping, and control wiring according to established procedures for heat load and equipment.
  • Services pneumatic and electronic control systems encompassing humidification control systems, according to manufacturers' specifications.
  • Performs water treatment and maintenance for cooling towers and chill water systems according to established procedures.
  • Services ultra-cold freezers and specialized medical and research refrigeration systems and environmental systems.
  • Installs, inspects, and maintains warm and cold air steam and hot water heating and ventilating units according to established procedures and manufacturers' specifications.
  • Maintains appropriate environmental conditions in all research, animal, and computer areas, as demonstrated by maintaining humidity, thermometer, and airflow levels within acceptable ranges.
  • Carries a pager and responds to after-hours calls. On-call assignments rotate to everyone on the team, with each assignment lasting one week.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, or Trade/Technical/Vocational Diploma in a related field of study.
  • Valid Personal Drivers License.
  • Valid Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician license.
  • 1-2 years of HVAC experience required.
  • 3-5 years of hospital mechanic experience preferred.
  • Preferred Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and Inspections Division Licensed Fuel Gas Fitter.
