About Your Role: As an HVAC/R Specialist at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll support HVAC and refrigeration operations across a portfolio of more than 9,000 stores throughout the U.S. and Canada. In this role, you’ll oversee repair and replacement activities, validate vendor recommendations, and ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with company standards. Through your partnership with Operations, Finance, Facilities, and external vendors, you’ll help maximize asset lifecycle value, control maintenance spend, and minimize store downtime.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in HVAC/R, facilities management, real estate, or property management
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, components, and maintenance practices
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and analyzing technical proposals, service documentation, and contracts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cost management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capability to influence decisions
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Exposure to lease administration and reporting tools
  • Retail, multi-site, or large portfolio facilities experience

Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and approve vendor quotes to ensure accurate scope, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with company standards
  • Evaluate repair versus replacement scenarios in accordance with asset lifecycle strategies and financial objectives
  • Validate HVAC and refrigeration equipment specifications, sizing, and compliance with regulatory and company requirements
  • Monitor asset performance and maintenance history to identify trends, recurring failures, and reliability risks
  • Recommend proactive replacement strategies and long-term solutions to improve system performance and reduce reactive maintenance spend
  • Enforce cost controls by identifying unnecessary repairs, duplicate billing, and inflated pricing
  • Ensure alignment with capital and expense budgets while maintaining operational continuity and store uptime
  • Support consistent execution of HVAC/R maintenance standards across U.S. and Canadian operations
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex or recurring equipment issues
  • Contribute to vendor performance oversight, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Facilities teams to support escalations and execution consistency
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance workflows, controls, and system reliability
