About The Position

HVAC Technicians are responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and servicing of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This role requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, diagnostic skills, and the ability to perform preventative and emergency maintenance. HVAC Technicians demonstrate proficiency in industry-standard concepts, practices, and safety protocols. Upon completion of assigned tasks, they accurately update and close items in the company’s computerized work order and preventive maintenance system.

Requirements

  • HVAC Certification (EPA 608 Universal required).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical theory, and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and control schematics.
  • Competence in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with lift equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC technician in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Required to carry and respond to a company-issued mobile phone.
  • Availability for 24/7 emergency duty rotation.
  • Use of PPE and safety equipment is mandatory (e.g., insulated gloves, eyewear, hearing protection, hard hat).
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 55 pounds, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and on rooftops.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Ability to operate communication devices and occasionally administer basic first aid or use a fire extinguisher.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including, air handlers, RTUs, heat pumps, and split systems, Exhaust Fans, Supply Fans,
  • Troubleshoot HVAC malfunctions using diagnostic tools and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot Walk-in Coolers, Reach-in Coolers, Walk-in Freezers, Reach-in Freezers
  • Install HVAC-related equipment and ensure systems are operating per specifications.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment longevity and efficiency.
  • Adjust system controls and settings to improve performance and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate with facility management to prioritize HVAC needs and respond to urgent requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and time spent.
  • Monitor client properties and respond to HVAC-related service calls in a timely manner.
  • Support facilities team on other duties not limited to: wall repair / paint, perimeter fence repair, roof cleaning, K-rail adjustment, light plumbing, furniture moves, ETC
