HVAC/R Service Estimator

Quantum IndustrialGilbert, AZ

About The Position

We’re looking for a Service Estimator who knows how to price work accurately, move quickly, and think through real-world execution—not just numbers on a spreadsheet. This role supports both service and small project work, building detailed, competitive estimates that account for labor, materials, risk, and compliance. You’ll work closely with operations, field teams, and vendors to make sure what we sell is something we can actually deliver—profitably. If you’ve done estimating in HVAC or mechanical service and understand how jobs really get built, this is where you’ll have impact.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC estimating, project coordination, or similar role
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and installation/service practices
  • Experience with takeoffs, material lists, and labor forecasting
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Excel (E4P, Trimble, Quote Soft, or similar preferred)
  • Working knowledge of pricing, labor rates, and subcontractor management
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates at once without losing accuracy

Nice To Haves

  • You’ve worked in mechanical or HVAC estimating and understand service work—not just large construction bids
  • You know how to read plans, specs, and drawings without guessing
  • You’re detail-oriented but can still move fast when deadlines hit
  • You think beyond the estimate—you consider execution, labor realities, and risk
  • You’re comfortable working with vendors, negotiating pricing, and holding people accountable
  • You don’t miss things like permits, safety requirements, or hidden costs

Responsibilities

  • Building accurate estimates for service and project work (labor, materials, equipment, subs)
  • Reviewing plans, specs, and field conditions to fully understand scope
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed cost breakdowns
  • Soliciting and leveling vendor and subcontractor pricing
  • Preparing and submitting bids within deadlines
  • Accounting for permits, safety requirements, and regulatory costs in all estimates
  • Managing estimates and documentation within CMMS and internal systems
  • Collaborating with project managers, technicians, and operations to validate scope and approach
  • Evaluating risk, applying contingencies, and protecting margin
  • Following up on bids, supporting negotiations, and adjusting pricing as needed
  • Reviewing completed jobs to improve future estimating accuracy
