Job Summary: The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment across Xanterra facilities. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and sustainability.   • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems, HVAC/R equipment, BAS, and facility infrastructure
  • Perform seasonal opening and closing procedures for facilities and equipment
  • Execute corrective and preventive maintenance tasks using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and maintain accurate documentation
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance activities, providing direction, mentorship, and support to team members
  • Ensure timely and quality completion of tasks assigned by supervisors
  • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA and NFPA regulations
  • Identify and correct unsafe work practices or non‑compliant installations
  • Select and use appropriate tools, materials, and equipment to complete tasks efficiently and safely
  • Maintain a clean, respectful, and cooperative work environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments (verbal and written)
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Be available for occasional overtime, night shifts, or emergency response as needed
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills in HVAC/R systems, building automation, and mechanical equipment
  • Proficiency in tools and equipment common to the mechanical trade
  • Strong computer skills, including CMMS and other systems software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train less experienced staff
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of applicable safety codes and regulations, with ability to enforce safe work practices
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset with curiosity, patience, and persistence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • May require use of respiratory protection and compliance with applicable regulations (including facial hair restrictions)
  • May require work in confined and permit‑required confined spaces
  • Ability to walk up to half a mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and perform tasks in all weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft
  • Capable of lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy labor in outdoor environments
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years
