About the position

Arthur Grand Technologies is seeking a Senior HVAC Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Richland, WA. This position is a long-term contract role that requires full-time presence in the project office. The successful candidate will work as part of the HVAC team, focusing on the design of HVAC systems and support utilities for treatment and vitrification processes. The role involves preparing design documentation, procurement documentation, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and clients. The position operates on a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, design criteria, and codes and standards in HVAC design.
  • Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes.
  • Prepare engineering design documentation including technical reports, studies, calculations, Ventilation and Instrumentation diagrams, and equipment data sheets.
  • Prepare engineering procurement documentation including equipment specifications and material requisitions.
  • Coordinate HVAC engineering efforts with Client specialty groups, other engineering disciplines, Construction, and Operations and Maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Aid project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements.
  • Check design documentation and mechanical engineering reports for clients.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Mentor and aid junior team members as required.
  • Provide a monthly brown bag learning presentation on relevant HVAC subject matter.
  • Complete mechanical documentation and procedures for equipment installation, maintenance, and operations.

Requirements

  • Engineer In-Training certification required; expectation to obtain a Professional Engineer’s license within 1 year of employment.
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 10-15 years of relevant work experience.
  • Professional Engineer’s license required for Level 2 candidates.
  • Solid experience in producing HVAC load calculations, pressure drop calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection.
  • Knowledge of ASME AG-1, ASHRAE, SMACNA standards, and experience with DOE Nuclear Cleaning Handbook and relevant DOE design guides.
  • Solid experience in the use of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
