Responsible for skilled utilities work in the performance of a comprehensive heating, ventilating and air conditioning system and water, storm drain, natural gas, and building automation. Responsible for operations of a mixed-use utility over a campus style facility.

  • Operates, diagnoses, inspects, repairs, replaces, services and performs preventive maintenance on utilities and HVAC equipment.
  • Handles high and low-pressure boilers; steam and water traps.
  • Maintains commercial size furnaces and air conditioners.
  • Works with hermetic centrifugal refrigeration machines.
  • Manages heating, cooling, chemical, sewage, storm drain and all other pumps.
  • Operates cooling towers; pipelines, valves.
  • Maintains water heaters; water softeners, meters.
  • Repairs motors; pumps, bearings, seals, belts.
  • Handles natural gas system.
  • Manages steam and water system.
  • Operates electrical distribution system.
  • Maintains plant computerized automation system.
  • Prioritizes multiple issues over a 1.5M sq ft facility.
  • Informs co-workers regarding procedures and orders of work orders.
  • Prepares documentation as required for compliance with regulations.
  • Installs new parts and equipment as required.
  • Inspects College property for unsafe conditions and takes corrective action.
  • Proficient in rebuilding pumps.
  • Responsible for housekeeping, cleaning and painting of respective areas and equipment.
  • Responsible for snow and ice removal duties.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Participates in a 7 day/24 hour on call weekly rotation for emergency events.
  • Operates motorized vehicles including trucks, vans, gators, and lifts.
  • Proficient in HVAC systems and utilities work.
  • Experience with high and low-pressure boilers.
  • Knowledge of commercial furnaces and air conditioning systems.
  • Experience with refrigeration machines.
  • Ability to manage various pumps and cooling towers.
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with computerized automation systems.
  • Experience in a campus style facility.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
