About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic at Marist College is responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC systems within a diverse range of facilities, including commercial, multi-residential, and academic buildings. This role involves installing, repairing, and performing major upkeep on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. The HVAC Mechanic will also assist other trades and lead projects as necessary, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working as an HVAC mechanic.
  • A valid NYS driver's license with no serious convictions.
  • HVAC/R EPA 608 universal certification, including 410A certification.
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC codes and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency with personal computers, including web browsing and word processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with medium voltage electrical equipment and controls.
  • Knowledge of DDC controls and facilities automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain buildings, facilities, and utilities associated with HVAC systems.
  • Install, repair, replace, and perform major upkeep of HVAC equipment and fixtures.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as required.
  • Assist other trades and personnel with task completion when assigned.
  • Lead and direct the work of others when assigned.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of HVAC controls and equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of materials needed for HVAC upkeep.
  • Maintain daily work logs and records of tools assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies regarding HVAC codes.
