About The Position

The HVAC Mechanic is experienced in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. This individual inspects, repairs and maintains HVAC systems in addition to maintaining parts, supplies and equipment. They are responsible for following the operational and departmental guidelines and for meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements, e.g. OSHA. Sentara RMH Medical Center, a Magnet designated hospital located in Harrisonburg VA, serves a seven-county area with a population of 218,000 residents, employing 2600 locals. The 238-bed community hospital has been serving Harrisonburg, Rockingham County and surrounding areas since 1912, then partnered with the Sentara Health System in May of 2011. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  • Trade School Graduate (Required)
  • Journeyman's license for Heating Vent and AC must be attained by the end of the first year of employment (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 2 (High-Pressure Appliances) (Required)
  • Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 1 (Small Appliances) (Required)
  • HVAC - 3 years (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary/vocational training in air conditioning, refrigeration, math, physics, chemistry, and basic mechanics
  • Universal Certification (Preferred)
