Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Northrop Grumman is seeking an HVAC Mechanic Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals! This position will be on site supporting our South Bay California Facilities in El Segundo, CA. This hands-on position requires knowledge and experience in repairs and maintenance of facilities and/or machines and equipment. The role is fully on-site; hybrid or remote work is not available.

  • Perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment (AHUs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, Heaters, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Coolers, Freezers).
  • Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine necessary repair and maintenance work to prevent breakdowns.
  • Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair machines and equipment.
  • Review and follow blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Install, service, modify, rebuild, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain centralized HVAC building automation systems, including pneumatic systems and direct digital control.
  • Document and maintain records for the Maintenance Department, including preventive maintenance activities and service reports.
  • Be physically capable of working in high places from ladders, able to lift over 50 lbs, and follow exacting written and verbal instructions.
  • Work on an on-call basis and handle responsibilities assigned by management.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with 4 years of experience in HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Must own Basic HVAC Tools.
  • Must possess a Universal EPA License 608 and an Active California Driver's License.
  • Ability to work 9 /80B Schedule.
  • Experience working in one or more of the maintenance trades: machine and equipment repair, machine controls, and/or electrical.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic components related to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
  • Experience working within a Central Plant.
  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
  • Strong commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience.
  • Experience in Aerospace/Defense Industry.
  • Strong computer, math, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Experience with building maintenance management and tracking systems (work orders, Computer-Aided Facilities Management, Maximo).
  • Knowledge of building automation control systems and troubleshooting I/O.
  • Good communication skills and experience with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience working on HVAC equipment in a manufacturing environment that serves production machines.
