Administration of Environmental Quality Programs

As an HVAC Mechanic II, you'll take on advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across City facilities. You'll troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, service large systems like chillers and heat pumps, and ensure compliance with EPA standards. This role also includes interpreting blueprints, operating building automation systems, estimating project needs, and coordinating with supervisors—all while delivering excellent customer service and maintaining accurate documentation.

  • Diagnoses and repairs electronic, electrical, and mechanical malfunctions.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks and tests refrigeration equipment.
  • Cleans and maintains shop, vehicle, electrical equipment, and personal protective equipment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a formal HVAC apprenticeship program.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in skilled trades or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Florida HVAC Journeyman license within six months of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of commercial-grade HVAC systems.
  • Solid understanding of digital and pneumatic HVAC controls and safety practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and follow complex procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
