About The Position

The HVAC Journeyman Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, repairing, and installing commercial and/or residential HVAC systems. This role requires a strong working knowledge of HVAC equipment, controls, electrical components, and refrigerant systems, along with the ability to work independently, communicate professionally with customers, and complete work safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Journeyman-level HVAC experience (4+ years), with strong troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • EPA Section 608 certification.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC electrical systems, refrigeration cycle, airflow, and controls.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide excellent customer service.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (as required).
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening (as applicable).
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC Journeyman license
  • NATE certification
  • Experience with commercial refrigeration, BAS/controls, or chiller systems
  • OSHA 10/30

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment including RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, and related components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, start-ups, and system performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and control issues (motors, contactors, relays, thermostats, control boards, VFDs as applicable).
  • Recover, evacuate, and charge refrigerant in compliance with EPA regulations; locate and repair leaks.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and blueprints to complete repairs and installations.
  • Document work orders, parts used, and recommended repairs; communicate findings clearly to customers and leadership.
  • Maintain service vehicle/equipment (as applicable) and ensure proper tool/material readiness.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
  • Support apprentices/helpers as needed and promote best practices and quality workmanship.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and overtime as required (if applicable).
