About The Position

The JVS Adult Career Center is seeking a skilled part-time HVAC Instructor to help launch and develop a new HVAC training program. This is an exciting opportunity to share your knowledge and shape a new program designed to meet the growing demand for trained HVAC professionals in our community. Position Details: Schedule: 2-3 evenings per week (estimated 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM) Status: Part-time / As needed Start Date: To Be Determined Location: JVS Adult Career Center Description: Teach the appropriate course of study by using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the HVAC field
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, maintenance, installation, and safety practices
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to acquire the appropriate certificate from the Ohio Dept. of Ed.
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Counseling skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Effective, active listening skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • General computer and word processing skills, including spreadsheets, data base and presentation software
  • Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology

Responsibilities

  • Teach the appropriate course of study by using a variety of instructional techniques that meet individual learning styles.
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
  • Attend meetings and in-services as required
  • Recommend long-term adjustments, changes, additions, and deletions in the career-technical education program
  • Maintain working relationship with community and state agencies and area businesses, industries, and labor organizations in order to provide appropriate training
  • Ensure safety of students
  • Work to identify and define local job opportunities and the role of the schools in meeting these opportunities
  • Coordinate all work components
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, parents, and community
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., cumulative folders and IEP's
  • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Responsible for the collection, review, and submission of all forms and reports relative to career-technical education to appropriate state agencies
  • Assist in disciplinary procedures and actions and record keeping
  • Coordinate requests for repairs to lab equipment
  • Oversee the distribution and inventory control of all supplies and equipment used by vocational students
  • Maintain membership in and participate in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the advancement of vocational education
  • Assist in the recruitment of students
  • Establish an advisory committee
  • Coordinate the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to jobs available
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
