About The Position

The HVAC II is part of a multi-craft team providing HVAC, refrigeration, thermostat controls, building automation systems, testing and balancing, and a variety of other maintenance activities for repairs, troubleshooting, installation, preventive maintenance, fire safety systems, and testing of equipment, buildings, and utility systems. A probationary period of 90 days (about 3 months) will be given for the organization to determine their ability, skill set, and ensure they uphold the values of the department and the organization. The HVAC II is responsible for completing documentation, quality control, rounding, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Current Viriginia DPOR Journeyman HVAC License
  • Section 608 Universal Technician Certification from the Environmental Protection Agency
  • 2-years of previous & verifiable HVAC related experience
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools and repair techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to function as part of a team
  • Ability to read technical documents and follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Performs installation and start-up of new HVAC systems and controls as directed.
  • Performs trouble shooting & corrective maintenance of HVAC systems and controls as directed.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of HVAC systems and controls as directed.
  • Works cooperatively with other trades to complete projects or tasks in a timely manner.
  • Assists with planning and execution of construction, renovation, and capital projects, including.
  • shutdowns, testing, and repair of all HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend various building automation, air regulations and Clean Air Act, refrigeration, HVAC systems, as well as the environmental requirements for healthcare per the currently approved ASHRAE 170 standard, TJC, all applicable building and mechanical codes, and any other authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Has a clear understanding of proper PPE.
  • Ability to interpret HVAC schematic diagrams and drawings.
  • Assists the Facilities Management department as member of a snow removal team.
  • Assists the Facilities Management department as member of the fire response team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
