Why this role You’ll support experienced HVAC Technicians on preventive maintenance and light repair work at retail, restaurant, and commercial locations—learning the trade while delivering on customer SLAs.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable MVR; ability to travel regionally (day trips + occasional overnights).
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs, work on rooftops/at heights, in hot/cold/outdoor environments, and on ladders.
  • Reliable, coachable, safety-first mindset; clear, professional communication.
  • Able to pass standard background and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 Type I/II (or willingness to obtain within 90 days; company support available).
  • Trade school/NCCER/OSHA-10; prior PM experience on RTUs/splits; basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with a CMMS/dispatch app and digital documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead/Service Technicians on PMs and light repairs for RTUs, split systems, heat pumps, exhaust/make-up air, and ice/walk-in support.
  • Perform basic tasks: filter and belt changes, coil cleaning, drain clearing, lubrication, fastening hardware, and site housekeeping.
  • Stage materials, tools, and ladders; help with roof access and safety setup; maintain clean work areas.
  • Capture photos, model/serial numbers, readings, and complete checklists in the CMMS/dispatch app (e.g., ServiceTitan/ServiceTrade/FieldEdge).
  • Communicate professionally with store managers; follow customer SLA windows and sign-in/out procedures.
  • Drive company or assigned vehicle to multi-site routes; protect inventory and tools; follow DOT/MVR and company vehicle policies.
  • Support techs with basic electrical checks (under supervision), minor low-voltage connections, and component swaps where allowed by license.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, ladder/roof safety, and all Upchurch and customer safety rules.
  • Assist with after-hours/emergency calls as scheduled; participate in an on-call rotation after training.
