About The Position

Work involves performance of skilled air conditioning, heating and refrigeration tasks in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a variety of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration and ventilation systems in order to provide a comfortable environment in classrooms, laboratories and offices for Florida Tech, a growing top-ranked university with over 2,000,000 square feet of facilities. The HVAC Field Lead is responsible for the overseeing of HVAC technicians. This position will maintain available stock, issue service tickets to staff and help to maintain an effective emergency on call system. This is an on-call position and may need to fill in when needed and report to campus during an emergency. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM , with occasional overtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have 5-8 years of experience in an HVAC position or in a similar field
  • Brevard County HVAC Journeyman's License preferred
  • State of Florida driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record by Florida Tech insurance guidelines
  • 30 hour OSHA GI certification (preferred)
  • EPA 608 Universal refrigerant recovery certification
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Brevard County HVAC Journeyman's License preferred
  • 30 hour OSHA GI certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Oversees HVAC/Building Automation System (BAS) technicians with their daily duties
  • Utilize service ticket system through tablet/computer.
  • Track, assign and complete service requests and work orders to accurately account for time and materials
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC related systems according to established schedules
  • Ensure that HVAC and BAS technicians complete weekly inventory on their company vehicles.
  • Ensure that correct stock is maintained in the vehicles
  • Stock, organize and maintain safe and clean HVAC stock rooms
  • Maintain and properly use tools and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Emergency Preparedness and support as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Carry rotating cellphone for after-hours emergency calls – may be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency
