About The Position

Vaco is conducting a confidential search for a HVAC Engineering Manager on behalf of an innovative organization in the HVAC industry. This position focuses on managing a small team of engineers to develop and launch cutting-edge heat pump technologies. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of HVAC engineering experience, with at least 3 years managing teams of 3-5 engineers.
  • Demonstrated success in bringing new products to market, particularly in heat pump technology.
  • Expertise in HVAC product development, system design, or optimization of heat pumps.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat pump cycles, and HVAC mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and HVAC design software (e.g., Carrier HAP, EnergyPlus).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively engage team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of 3-5 engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee the design, development, and market introduction of advanced heat pump technologies for residential and commercial applications.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all performance and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with product management, operations, and sales teams to align engineering initiatives with business objectives.
  • Ensure all products comply with industry standards such as ASHRAE, AHRI, and CSA, while maintaining a focus on quality and innovation.
  • Implement best practices to enhance engineering efficiency, reduce time-to-market, and drive technological advancements.
