About The Position

KCC, a leader in climate control technology, is seeking an HVAC Design Engineer to support and enhance our legacy and nextgeneration product portfolio. In this role, you will work closely with other designers, engineers, and crossfunctional teams to design, improve, and support commercial HVAC equipment. You will focus on sheet metal component design, integration of purchased parts, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product efficiency, manufacturability, cost, and quality. Responsibilities: Design & Develop: Create and optimize HVAC equipment and sheet metal components using SOLIDWORKS. Maintain accurate 3D models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs. Solve Problems: Diagnose product and design challenges using engineering fundamentals, data analysis, and structured rootcause methods. Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements that enhance product quality, reduce manufacturing cost, and streamline production. Prototype & Test: Design and document prototypes, support build and testing activities, analyze results, and implement design updates. Manage Engineering Changes: Investigate and qualify Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to implement approved modifications. Collaborate CrossFunctionally: Work with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Production teams to ensure accurate and efficient product development workflows. Support Manufacturing: Incorporate Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) best practices into design revisions and partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve production efficiency. Communicate Clearly: Participate in design and process meetings to maintain alignment and ensure design decisions are documented and communicated effectively. Manage ERP Data: Maintain accurate part, BOM, and configuration information within the ERP system to support production and product accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Strong computer and data management skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing concepts.
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with sheet metal part design.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel VBA or Python for automation.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and collaborate across departments.
