About The Position

The HVAC Counter Sales I position is a full-time, non-exempt role located in Columbus, OH. The position involves providing fast and friendly customer service, processing customer orders, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The role requires interaction with customers both in person and over the phone, ensuring that their needs are met and that they receive the correct products in a timely manner. The position reports to the Branch Manager and offers opportunities for growth and advancement within the company.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts, and supplies.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and customers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in operating a computer and Prophet 21.
  • Basic math skills, including understanding markup and gross margin calculations.
  • Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers, and descriptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in customer service or retail sales.
  • Familiarity with HVAC products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast and friendly customer service by following 'Customer First' standards, in person or over the telephone.
  • Display a positive attitude by greeting customers as they enter the branch.
  • Ensure commitments made to customers meet or exceed expectations.
  • Enter customer orders in the system on the same day the order is received.
  • Pull customer orders from the warehouse and load into company delivery truck or customer vehicle.
  • Produce and complete paperwork accurately including invoices, special orders, and shipping paperwork.
  • Ensure all product leaving the branch is billed and collect payment via cash or credit card.
  • Process all customer returns and warranties the same day they are received.
  • Maintain self-service area by restocking and tidying the area.
  • Create and maintain branch displays that support corporate programs.
  • Use resources to locate products for customers and provide updates on delivery and backordered products.
  • Report damage, safety issues, and accidents to the supervisor.
  • Use sales tactics to promote special items or sales.
  • Perform warehouse duties including cleaning and loading/unloading products.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Professionally represent the company by adhering to uniform and grooming standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
