About The Position

The HVAC Counter Sales I position is a full-time, non-exempt role located in Nashville, TN. The position reports to the Branch Manager and involves providing fast and friendly customer service, processing customer orders, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The role requires interaction with customers both in person and over the phone, ensuring that their needs are met and that all transactions are handled accurately. The employee will also be responsible for warehouse duties and maintaining the self-service area.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and customers.
  • Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills necessary to service customers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency while operating a computer and Prophet 21.
  • Basic math skills, including understanding markup and gross margin calculations.
  • Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers, and descriptions to accurately identify items.
  • Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts, and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fast and friendly customer service by following 'Customer First' standards, in person or over the telephone.
  • Display a positive attitude by greeting customers as they enter the branch.
  • Ensure commitments made to customers meet or exceed expectations.
  • Enter customer orders in the system on the same day the order is received.
  • Pull customer orders from the warehouse and load into company delivery truck or customer vehicle.
  • Produce and complete paperwork accurately including invoices, C.O.D.'s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping and receiving paperwork.
  • Ensure all products leaving the branch are billed and collect payment via cash or credit card.
  • Follow procedures to process all customer returns and warranties the same day they are received.
  • Maintain the self-service area by restocking, rotating displays, and tidying the area.
  • Create and maintain branch displays that support corporate programs.
  • Use all available resources to locate products for customers and provide updates on delivery and backordered products.
  • Report damage, safety issues, and accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Use sales tactics to promote special items or sales.
  • Keep up to date with all new product information and educate customers on available products.
  • Perform warehouse duties as necessary, including cleaning and loading/unloading products.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping the workstation neat and orderly.
  • Professionally represent the R.E. Michel Company by wearing the approved company uniform.
