About The Position

This entry level Counter Sales position involves answering telephone calls, locating items, servicing customers, using a computer to generate invoices, loading items in customers' vehicles, and delivering products to customer locations. The position is full-time and non-exempt, located in North Charleston, SC, and reports to the Branch Manager.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts, and supplies is preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and customers.
• Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills necessary to service customers.
• Demonstrated proficiency in operating a computer and Prophet 21.
• Basic math skills, including understanding markup and gross margin calculations.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers, and descriptions to accurately identify items.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service by following 'Customer First' standards, in person or over the telephone.
• Display a positive attitude by greeting customers as they enter the branch.
• Ensure commitments made to customers meet or exceed expectations.
• Enter customer orders in the system on the same day the order is received.
• Pull customer orders from the warehouse and load into company delivery truck or customer vehicle.
• Produce and complete paperwork accurately including invoices, C.O.D.'s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping and receiving paperwork.
• Ensure all products leaving the branch are billed and collect payment via cash or credit card.
• Follow procedures to process all customer returns and warranties the same day they are received.
• Maintain the self-service area by restocking, rotating displays, and tidying the area.
• Create and maintain branch displays that support corporate programs and branch strengths.
• Use all available resources to locate products for customers and provide updates on delivery and backordered products.
• Immediately report damage, safety issues, and accidents to the supervisor.
• Use sales tactics to promote special items or sales.
• Keep up to date with all new product information and educate customers on available products.
• Perform warehouse duties as necessary, including cleaning and loading/unloading products.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping the workstation neat and orderly.
• Professionally represent the R.E. Michel Company by wearing the approved company uniform and abiding by grooming standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
