About The Position

HVAC Commercial Service Technician – Level 3 (Service Only) Location: Sacramento, CA Department: Service Technicians Pay Range: $28–$48/hour (DOE), plus commissions w/ Sells and Spiffs Certification Required: EPA Universal / 608 Our Technician Career Path Clarke-Rush structures our HVAC Technician roles into Levels 1–3 based on experience, technical expertise, and ability to work independently in the field. Level 1: Maintenance Technician Level 2: Maintenance / Service Technician Level 3: Service Technician (Advanced Diagnostics & Repair – Service Only) This position is a Level 3 Commercial Service Technician role . Position Summary Clarke-Rush is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Level 3 Service Technician to join our growing team. This role is focused exclusively on advanced service, diagnostics, and repair of commercial HVAC systems. This is not a maintenance-only position. The Level 3 Technician operates independently, handles complex system issues, and may provide technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with complex systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
  • Proven ability to work independently in the field
  • EPA Certification (Universal preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of chillers, boilers, a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repair on commercial HVAC systems
  • Service RTUs, VAV systems, and other large mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of chillers, boilers, a plus
  • Troubleshoot electrical, and mechanical system issues
  • Perform major component replacements and system retrofits
  • Accurately document service findings, parts used, and recommendations
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs and solutions
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and company procedures
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior technicians as needed
