About The Position

This position has an expert level of technical knowledge and skills for the operation and maintenance of the UGA campus building chilled water production system. This system is comprised of various sized chillers, cooling towers, chilled water and condenser water pumps, distribution piping, control valves, actuators, the systems automation control and the chiller microprocessor control, and other components. This position has an expert level of mechanical skills and technical knowledge to monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the system at the district plants and at various buildings on campus. This position works independently to complete tasks within this competency.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5 years of related experience

Responsibilities

• Perform checks and take corrective action to ensure the chilled water production systems and associated cooling towers are operating per designed flow, volume and temperature requirements.
• Install, maintain, and repair the building chilled water mechanical components such as rods, condensers and evaporators.
• Diagnose and solve a wide range of operational issues that arise from the mechanical, electrical, and automated controls of the building chilled water production systems such as chiller sensors, boards, starters, relays, and actuators.
• Troubleshoot, test and assist in the commissioning of new building chilled water production systems.
• Assist and support with other duties as assigned by the Building HVAC Shop Manager.
