This opportunity resides with Global Security (GS). Mission Technologies’ Global Security (GS) group comprises live, virtual, constructive (LVC) solutions; fleet sustainment; nuclear and environmental; and Australia business.   • Works closely with design originators preparing drawings of unusual, complex or original design.
  • Prepares drawings, which require a high degree of precision.
  • Performs unusually difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.
  • Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent.
  • Provides advice, guidance, and instruction to drafters.
  • May serve as primary point of contact for complex drafting projects.
  • Ability to prepare a complete drawing package without supervision.
  • Calculates Weight and Moments changes as a result of drawing.
  • Calculates electrical loads or heat loads for specific drawing and provide proper breakers, cable type/size or heat exchanger for requirements.
  • Selects proper material for structural members.
  • Assists Electrical/Mechanical engineers for stress/electrical/mechanical calculations.
  • Revises drawings to reflect As-Installed Conditions.
  • Ability to utilize World Wide Web for research.
  • Ability to research existing conditions and where to find that information.
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
  • Candidate must be a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or graduating college senior who is in good academic standing and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required prior to starting employment.
  • Candidate must have the ability to lead Site Visits to vessels and shore sites to gather technical data for drawing development.
  • Candidate must be completely knowledgeable with all tools of the trade (CAD program, rulers, compass, divider, calculator etc.) and complete knowledge of drafting and design standards.
  • Candidate must be proficient with at least one electrical CAD software package (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar).
  • Candidate must have a strong understanding of electrical and electronic components, circuits, and systems.
  • Candidate must have knowledge of industry standards for electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Candidate must have excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Candidate must have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Thorough knowledge of Model Space/Paper Space techniques.
  • Complete understanding of Weight Group assignments for Ships Systems and manual for BSCI/ESWBS grouping.
