About The Position

The HVAC Building Automation Control Systems Specialist supports facility operations by commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex HVAC building automation and electronic metering systems across Department of Adult Correction facilities. The role operates within a multi‑facility maintenance and engineering environment focused on system reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient operation of critical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in electronics from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive experience in the repair and maintenance of complex electronic systems including some responsibility for the design of electronic apparatus OR An equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Additional Requirements Based on the nature of work performed, may require appropriate liscensure by the governing board or commission

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience applying electronic principles in the commissioning or repair of building automation systems, such as sensor circuits, control boards, or field devices
  • Proven experience analyzing and diagnosing complex electronic system issues in HVAC automation or similar industrial control environments
  • Documented experience working with ethernet‑based system components, such as IP‑addressable controllers, networked sensors, or switch-connected automation devices
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance or direction in complex electronics work, such as calibration, advanced troubleshooting, or system testing

Responsibilities

  • Commission HVAC building automation systems, including conduit and raceway installation, wire pulling, device installation, and system startups.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC building automation and electronic metering systems across assigned facilities.
  • Complete and document work orders related to automation system diagnostics, repairs, and performance issues.
  • Prepare requisitions and reconcile purchasing activity such as direct billing and p‑card receipts for materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate work with facility maintenance teams and DECM engineering staff to ensure alignment with building codes and State Construction Office standards.
  • Provide technical guidance in advanced electronic system diagnostics, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Travel to facilities as needed to support on‑site commissioning, diagnostics, and system repairs.
