Michigan State University Infrastructure Planning and Facilities invites applications for the position of HVAC/Boiler Mechanic and we need your help. This position will analyze and perform preventive maintenance to repair boiler/heating systems and steam distribution systems, related controls, pumps, fans, compressors, heat exchangers, filters, softeners, incinerators, small boilers and furnaces, piping fixtures, etc. Operate heating systems, incinerators, small boilers and furnaces. Lubricate, repair and service the above equipment. Change filters, belts, seals, bearings, etc. Cover boilers, pipes, auxiliaries and accessories with insulation materials. Cut, thread, and bend pipe using a hacksaw, pipe cutters, cutting torch, threading machine, and pipe bending machine. Assemble, install, and test a variety of metal and non-metal pipe and fittings, including brass, copper, steel, and plastic. Operate combustion analyzing equipment to evaluate burner performance. Tune power burners to achieve highest possible efficiencies. Install, alter and adjust (burner) electronic components. Formulate boiler operation control strategies to be used in BAS systems. Troubleshoot control systems throughout the heating plant.
