About The Position

Star Service, Inc. of Mobile, the leading HVAC Service provider throughout the entire Gulf Coast, is seeking an experienced HVAC Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our Plant Operations team in Mobile, AL! This entry level technician will have a strong work ethic, extreme focus, and a curiosity to learn and grow in a thriving industry.

Requirements

Willing to learn mechanical, electrical, and basic instrumentation principles through on-the-job training.
Ability to read and follow basic diagrams, checklists, and maintenance instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures carefully.
Ability to work independently on routine tasks after training, as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
Positive attitude, reliability, and a “whatever it takes” approach to completing assigned preventive maintenance work safely and thoroughly.
Comfort working around industrial equipment and pressurized systems (with proper training and safety protocols).

Nice To Haves

Basic familiarity with common HVAC brands and equipment (such as Trane/McQuay, Carrier, Mitsubishi, Daikin, York, Birdwell, Safe Air Technology, or Specific Systems) is a plus but not required—we provide training.
0–2 years of experience in maintenance, facilities, mechanical work, or a related field (entry-level candidates welcome; prior industrial or plant experience is helpful but not necessary).

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC plant equipment, including cleaning coils, filters, drains, and components; lubricating moving parts; inspecting belts, bearings, and connections; and checking basic system parameters to ensure optimal performance and reduce the risk of downtime.
Conduct scheduled inspections and basic testing of plant HVAC systems to identify obvious wear, leaks, or potential issues, and report findings to senior technicians for further evaluation.
Assist senior technicians with basic maintenance tasks and preparations for equipment servicing.
Read and follow simple technical manuals, checklists, and preventive maintenance schedules to complete assigned tasks accurately.
Maintain accurate records of all preventive maintenance activities, including logs of inspections, parts used, and any observations noted.
Comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling practices around HVAC equipment.
